Introduction

Some examples of works relevant to the immersive arts context – real-time interactive installations and online-digital experiences, VR and XR, immersive audio – in roles of Lead Artist, Creative Developer, and Creative Technology Director.

Since the media of my arts practice are very much based on motion and interaction, several short videos are offered here, alongside high quality still images – if viewing as PDF, videos are shown as URL boxes, click or copy-paste to view them.

These works are selected for their relevance to my upcoming work, from a mixture of past client projects and commissions and artistic practice works – while client projects and commissions tend to cover a broader range of themes, works from my own artistic practices explore and develop my themes of natural phenomena and dynamics explorations through physics and graphics R&D, real-time natural interaction and artist-audience dialogues, and creative applications of emerging technologies through custom-built in code.

An experiment in nature-evoking art, physics, graphics, and interaction.

Adapted into an interactive music video collaboration on Max Cooper’s Emergence project, featured on Experiments with Google on its Chrome Experiments Collection front page.

After the initial music-video releases, I developed it further into a standalone visuals version for myriad live shows and events with audience interactions – including the exhibition and music series Unfolded at Unit31 in London; Glacial666 and Visionist at Chocolate Factory, Dublin; and many more.

I also published it as Free Open-Source Software for reuse and learning, resulting in several interesting collaborations with others – including with South Korean traditional musician NYK accompanying live performance of her therapeutic music Tradirapy at a Seoul opera-house.

The nature-evoking visuals are an emergent physical system of interacting particles – complex organic forms emerge spontaneously, from simple interactions at the individual scale; in a fluid-like advection, particles recursively affect and affected by the field of motion – all consistent themes in my artworks.

I executed the process via low-level stack.gl, WebGL 1.0, GLSL, JavaScript; custom-built partly as a learning exercise – creating custom General-Processing GPU methods, GPGPU; keyframe-based animation system, and keyboard-driven timeline editing; audio-response triggers, based on audio waveform and Fast-Fourier Transform, FFT, reacting to thresholds across time-windows in a calculus-based interpretation.
